Teeth Advisory Group (TAG TEAM)

The Teen Advisory Group is a collaboration of teenagers that are patients or siblings of patients, which have had numerous inpatient or outpatient experiences at Covenant Children's and are able to offer constructive feedback regarding ways the hospital can improve the care it provides. They give Covenant Children's a unique perspective regarding programs and policies at the hospital. Generally, TAG members are 12-18 years old.

This is an opportunity for patients and siblings to voice their opinions and concerns regarding their needs, and to have an impact on the care they receive. The council has worked with many departments in the Hospital to ensure that the patient's perspective is heard throughout the institution.

Council meetings

TAG meets every three months from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dinner is provided for members. During meetings council members meet with Hospital staff, work on projects, and sometimes host special events for patients.

Membership information

New council members are accepted throughout the year, and are nominated by Covenant Children's staff and other TAG members. For more information about becoming a member of the Teen Advisory Group, please email Katie Reed at reedk1@covhs.org

Accomplishments

  • Created a "Stronger" Video. This is an inspirational video used to boost morale of other patients in the hospital.
  • Works closely with Food Services to develop the hospital's menu selections.
  • Planning to host seasonal events for inpatients and their families which included music, crafts, games and prizes.
  • Provided valuable input and creative ideas for the implementation and construction of "Teen Town". Teen Town is a designated area that was built and designed to give teenage patients a place to hang out, play games, watch movies, participate in therapeutic activities, and do their school work.
