Family Advisory Council

The goal of The Family Advisory Council (FAC) is to provide the patient and family perspective and to share expertise to support the hospital's patient and family-centered care objectives.

The Covenant FAC is comprised of a broad representation of families from diverse backgrounds with diverse diagnoses and experiences within the Covenant network. The council also includes staff from many disciplines, all committed to advancing patient and family-centered care.

Our Family Advisory Council:

• Serves as advisory resource to administration and staff of the organization
• Promotes improved relationships and communication between patients, families, and staff.
• Provides a venue for patients and families to provide input into policy and
program development.
• Provides an opportunity for patients and families to actively participate in the
development of new facilities and programs.
• Provides a safe venue for patients and families to provide input in a setting where they
are receiving care.
• Promotes respectful, effective partnerships between patients and families and professionals.

Council Meetings

The Family Advisory Council meets nine months of the year, from September to May. Meetings are held on the last Thursday of the month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dinner or Garden Cafe vouchers are provided for members and guests. As needed, we are also happy to provide trained Child Life Interns to provide care for children of members or guests attending the meetings.

Membership Information

Members of the Family Advisory Council are caregivers whose child(ren) are or have been cared for at Covenant Children's, as well as staff from many areas of the institution. The council collects applications for those interested to be considered as new members throughout the year. Interested candidates will be interviewed and those selected will participate in orientation in order to begin service on the Family Advisory Council.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Family Advisory Council, please contact us at FAC@covhs.org.
