Healthy Heros

Healthy Heroes

Back in May, Covenant Health partnered with the Kohl's Cares program to bring the Healthy Heroes event to Lubbock. With bounce houses and plenty of fun games, area children and their parents were exposed to a variety of education items.

The "Healthy Heroes" program provides education and awareness to the local community on health and wellness. The program incorporates the "5-2-1-0" initiative, which recommends children eat five servings of fruits and vegetables; spend no more than two hours watching television, playing video games or surfing the internet; get at least one hour of active play; and drink zero sugar-sweetened beverages each day.

The Kohl's Healthy Heroes program educates and provide awareness to the community, including parents, families, and children of all ages, on health and wellness. This education and awareness will provide easily learned behavior change techniques regarding health and wellness that can be incorporated into everyday living. Overall, a better educated pediatric Lubbock will emerge. The program provides education and awareness to the local community on health and wellness through events and education.

The Kohl's Cares program funded Healthy Heroes in coordination with Covenant Children's. Kohl's supports more than 160 children's hospitals nationwide through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program which has raised more than $231 million for children's health and education initiatives.
