Diabetes
A person with diabetes cannot use the sugar (carbohydrates) from food.
The body doesn’t make or properly use a natural hormone, called
insulin, needed for that process. The sugar leaves the body in the urine
and a person does not get the energy they need to
There are two types of diabetes. In Type I, the pancreas stops making insulin.
In Type II, people can’t properly use the insulin they make. This
second type of diabetes is more common in people older than 45, but people
who are overweight or who have other family members with Type II Diabetes
may develop it at any age.
Depending on the type and severity of the diabetes, treatment can include
diet, exercise, and insulin.
