Dr. Higgins is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist at Covenant Women’s and Children’s and is in his 27th year of practice. He is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics for Texas Tech Health Sciences Center committed to compassionate, high-quality care with an emphasis on healthy lifestyles for the entire family. Board-certified in pediatric gastroenterology by the American Board of Pediatrics and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Dr. Higgins holds licensure in the state of Texas. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. Dr. Higgins completed his residency in pediatrics at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where he was Chief Resident of Pediatrics in 1990. He completed a pediatric internship at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati. Dr. Higgins and his wife Karen have been married for 37 years. They enjoy traveling and spending time with their three married daughters and four grandchildren. They are also active church members with a focus on ministry to college students. Dr. Higgins is an avid runner and enjoys hiking and exploring the Palo Duro Canyon in Amarillo.
