Children's Emergency Services
Don't take your child to an adult focused emergency center when you
have the choice!
Why to Choose Covenant Children's:
-
We were the first and are now the longest running dedicated pediatric Emergency
Center in the Region - open 24/7, 365 days a year
-
Staffed by physicians and registered nurses specially trained in pediatric
emergency care - such as Board-certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine
physicians
-
We were the first, and remain the
ONLY, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in Lubbock
-
When compared to adult emergency centers, and adult emergency centers also
seeing pediatrics, we typically have significantly shorter waits before
your child is seen by a provider and discharged
-
We are a Regional Leader in Pediatric Emergency Preparedness - We know pediatrics. With that in mind we offer emergency department readiness
assessments to regional hospitals to help them assess their current ability
to best care for pediatric patients and then we offer specific recommendations
and resources to them to better prepare them to care for pediatric patients
that will undoubtedly show up in their facilities at some point.
About Our Emergency Center
Our emergency center consists of 12 rooms and 2 trauma bays.
Us saying don't go to an adult-focused ED isn't just marketing
- it's important you understand what care your child is receiving.
In fact, using a standard readiness assessment tool, EDs with high pediatric
readiness have been shown to have significantly lower patient mortality/death,
with about a quarter the deaths of hospitals with low pediatric readiness.
This is due to the need for specialized equipment, policies and procedures,
staff training, etc.

Covenant wants mothers who are experiencing complications to be seen right
away by an in-house, board-certified OB/GYN, who can provide care until
the patient's own doctor can evaluate the mother and baby’s
condition. Our hospitalist physicians work with your primary OB/GYN provider
to give immediate care and help make decisions about hospital admission
or discharge. To learn about the Obstetric Emergency Department please
